Video: Ask Dr. Weiss: Physical appearance, personality and the soul, autism and other conditions

Some takeaways from Dr. Brian’s perspectives (guest speaker on Oprah relating to reincarnation and past lives):

  • Brian mentions an interesting perspective from mystic Teilhard de Chardin who stated that we are spiritual beings having a human experience and not human beings having a spiritual experience, and he meant this ongoing, eternal, unchanging soul and the personality is the temporary changeable part and not our true nature.
  • Brian mentions that karma is not punishment, it’s just an opportunity for learning and growth.
  • Brian mentions many souls especially advances souls will choose to incarnate in an impaired state whether physically, mentally or both in order to give other souls the opportunity to receive love, and to express love, and these types of situations really are chosen oftentimes and not the result of punishment or karma, but chosen in order to help other souls and spiritual beings to progress along their spiritual paths.

  • These 1 in 8 children can expect to experience a lifespan that is 20 years shorter that their peers.
  • The fact is combat is not the only type of trauma, it can happen to anyone other types of trauma can include and not limited to car accidents, serious illness, witnessing a death, some other type of violence, living in poverty can be a type of trauma etc.
  • Some of the things we can do is be real allies to children including not keeping them at arms length but make them feel heard, seen and understood.

Video: Why Having Fun Is the Secret to a Healthier Life | Catherine Price | TED

Some takeaways from Catherine’s perspectives:

  • Fun is a feeling and not an activity
  • People who are having fun look like they’re being illuminated from within
  • True fun produces this visceral sense of lightness and joy
  • Three factors are consistently present: playfulness, connection and flow
  • It’s possible to be in flow and not have fun, but you cannot have fun if you’re not in flow (flow state)
  • Fun doesn’t just feel good, it is good for us
  • Fun also makes us present
  • Fun also unites us
  • Fun also makes us healthier (having fun is a health intervention)
  • Fun is joyful, fun makes us happy
  • Reduce distractions (such as phones) to increase flow
  • Increase connections by interacting more with other human beings in real life
  • Increase playfulness by finding opportunities to rebel (playful deviance)

Video: Artificial Intelligence Meets Mental Health Therapy | Andy Blackwell | TEDxNatick

Some takeaways from Andy’s perspectives:

  • The use of deep neural networks takes language that’s expressed in therapy to translate that into a simple therapy barcode or fingerprint can be
analysed readily for example a one-hour session of therapy between a therapist and a patient and the colours created by artificial intelligence signifies different types of dialogue that are occurring moment by moment through the session as interpreted by the artificial intelligence throughout the session.
  • Dependent on the context of the therapy utilized, effective care based on the study of over twenty million therapy language events portrays that effective care is more business like for example the therapist setting agreed goals and objectives and reviewing homework of the patient or client.
